If one is in Southern Ireland and also happens to be a golf lover, a visit to Water Rock Golf Course, County Cork, should rate high on one’s priority list. This golf club is basically a family run business and interestingly, has no permanent members as it works only on the basis of green fees. The course, designed by Patrick Merrigan, is one of the most famous tourist and sporting destination in the South of Ireland.
Starting from amateurs to professional golfers, this Irish golf club that came into existence in 1994 caters to the golfing needs of all kinds of players. The club provides different options for tees and is built in accordance with internationally Water Rock Golf Course accepted construction standards and specifications. This private 18 holes parkland, therefore, includes mildly shaped greens which are sand based. To add further elements to its many highlights, the course is situated on Owenacurra riverside. The division of this par 70 course consists of two loops; one is made of 5 par threes and the second has 3 par fives. The signature hole, known by the name of ‘Swan Lake’, is perhaps the toughest on the course as it plays over water into the wide green expanse at 240 yard 12th par 3.
Visitors are welcomed by the club for a game round the year and at the same time, can avail golfing and other facilities like bar, clubhouse and restaurant.
